This orchid is known from a handful of locations and is listed as Threatened Flora. It has dark-tipped petals that a held stiffly, but other than that, it is very similar to other wispy spider orchids.

The Yellow Spider Orchid is distinguished by its colour and also by having longer fringes than the usual wispy spider orchid. The identification of these orchids is uncertain.

The Chameleon Orchid is a smallish wispy spider orchid that is very common in the more inland areas of the South West, fromt he Central Wheatbelt to the arid regions. It is quite variable in colour.

The Yuna Spider Orchid is a local variation of Wispy Spider Orchid found between Yuna and Mullewa and is distinguished by the yellowish colour of the petals and the dropping sepals with longer than usual hairs.

These photos illustrate the great difficulty in identifying wispy spider orchids. They are found almost everywhere and are greatly variable in both size and colour and there appears to be very little differences between currently described species anyway. I am of the opinion that the Wispy Spider Orchids have been split into too many species. Those species that are not significantly different from each other would be better named as a single, variable species.
