The Slender Spider Orchid is distinguished by its much taller stems (up to 50cm). The flowers are quite large (8-15cm) with a small, narrow labellum and long dangling, tangling petals. The colour is extremely variable from nearly all red to nearly all white. The petals are often so long that the dorsal sepal droops backwards. The common name derives from the slender look of the flowers, due to the dangling petals being positioned close to the stem.
