The Ray Spider Orchid is a spectacular late-flowering orchid. It is unique in the way it holds its petals angling down and it has a distinctive labellum with straight, outward spreading fringes. The way the petals and labellum fringes radiate from a central point gives rise to the scientific and common names. It is found between Bunbury and Albany, growing in swampy areas and flowering from late October to November. It flowers in unburnt bushland, but flowers in much greater numbers in the season after a fire.
