Caladenia lorea – Blushing Spider Orchid | Orchids of South-west Australia

This orchid is a strange one. It is very similar to the Carousel Spider Orchid (C. arenicola). It also looks very similar to hybrids between the Carousel Spider Orchid and the White Spider Orchid, however, it forms pure populations where the hybrid parents are not present. The Blushing Spider Orchid has a distinctive red tip to the labellum and shows a large variation in colour. It probably intergrades with the Carousel Spider Orchid. It is found to the north of Perth from Gingin to Jurian Bay.
