Similar to the White Spider Orchid in size and shape, this beautiful orchid is distinguished by its later flowering period (Nov-Dec) and its flowers that are usually streaked with red. The red colouring is quite variable with some specimens being totally white, while others have petals and sepals that are almost fully red. Both the common and scientific names are based on the late flowering period.

This orchid is a cross between the Christmas Spider Orchid and the Club-lipped Spider Orchid, Caladenia corynephora. It is identified by the smallish flowers with long thickened fringes on the labellum. It is a seldom seen hybrid, being occasionally found where the two late-flowering parent species are present.
