Dear God,
Thank you for your love and graciousness, revealed in the words of Jesus. The kingdom of heaven is so often an unappreciated treasure, worth searching for with all we are and have, in undaunted application; until found and obtained. Matthew 13: 44 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.” Or like verse 45, 46 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price; went and sold all that he had and brought it.”
These texts illustrate how much God loves each person who has drawn breath. Jesus gave all of Himself, in every area of His life; and thus revealed His Father’s love more intimately to people, as well as demonstrated His total love for us, by giving His own perfect life, in sacrifice for our sins. Jesus seeks every person out, as treasure, to be saved from the misery of unconfessed sin and the bondage of doing sinful actions.
He longs for us to search for a knowledge and love for Him in the Holy Scriptures and in sincere humble prayer, so that to us He can provide His inestimable treasure, in an interactive loving relationship with Him, to be experienced every moment of every day. For us to hang onto our worldly preferences over spending time with Jesus or for Him, or put in a half-hearted effort in searching the scriptures, worship and prayer time, will mean we will sight His treasure, and obtain some treasure sand, but not the pearl of great price type of treasure. Without the full treasure that Jesus invites us to obtain we will not have the kingdom of heaven that Jesus will recognize when at the second coming He comes for His own and it is these treasured people He will take home with Him, for they have cherished what they found and He gave them.
When any of us as Your faithful worker goes out in many different ways, and brings people in contact with Your Holy Scriptures, then people of different types, personalities, beliefs and attitudes; determine they have found truth; like a drag net catches various fish in the sea. 13: 47, 48 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet that was cast into the sea and gathered some of every kind, which, when it was full, they drew to the shore……..”
Dear Lord please keep me ever willing to place You above everything earthly and maintain Your kingdom of heaven, as precious treasure.
Amen
