1Timothy 6: 6, 7 “Now godliness with contentment is great gain.  For we bought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.”

Dear God,

I feel blessed as I meditate upon Your word in my quiet place, surrounded by roses with blue sky above.  I thank You for strengthening me physically, spiritually and emotionally over the past day, and for the gift of life and for my safe-keeping.

As I have read of the dire and terrible situation in Jerusalem recorded in Jeremiah 9: 10, 11, with the message prophesying forthcoming judgement, war and destruction, delivered by Jeremiah; all of which was bought on by the people’s wickedness and denial of God.  Thankfully, I have no personal first-hand experience of such horror, war and destruction.

Unfortunately right now, the horror of war, torture and murder are the common experience for 1000’s upon this earth.  With others dying from poverty, neglect and ravaging disease.  Please keep me sensitive to the needs of these people, and reveal to me, when I can help with my means and prayers for the intervention of aid workers.

For those who will listen, bring them back into balance and acceptance of all You say and offer, Jeremiah 9: 23, 24 “’Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, let not the mighty man glory in his might!  Nor let the rich man glory in his riches; but let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord, exercising loving kindness, judgement, and righteousness in the earth, for in these I delight,’ says the Lord.”

It is so sad and sobering to note that in this age, when more people universally than previously, have as their god, wisdom, power and money, with surging unhappiness and wickedness all over our planet.  In these times, such conditions fulfil Your prophecies about the time of the end.  I pray that we who love You, will abide by Your word and commission to help others, and tell them about Your offer of salvation and internal peace; all the long keeping our characters unspotted by wickedness.

Scripture reminds us what truly matters, resulting in deep down happiness for the grateful and appreciative, as outlined in our two opening texts, followed by V8 “and having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.

Yes please, for me Lord.

Amen
