Philippians 2: 14, 15 “Do all things without complaining and disputing.  That you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation among whom you shine as lights in the world.”

Dear God,

I am truly grateful for this new day, and the ability to enjoy it whilst I seek You anew.  I feel pleasure and calmness as I look out upon the top of my fruit trees, with the towering gum trees, with blue sky beyond all.  The leaves flutter and move in the breeze, as well as twinkle their reflection of the sun, as though the leaves are a myriad of lights.  How beautiful are Your creative works!  No less beautiful is the life of all who have the light of Your love and works within their hearts and upon their countenance, “among whom You shine as lights in the world”, for they (we) have been” holding fast the word of life, so that I (Paul) may rejoice in the day of Christ…..”Philippians 2: 16

I understand that for me to be one of Your “lights in the world”, I will have certain character traits, that are gifts of the Holy Spirit, and I am so glad they are available for all who seek to be a disciple of Jesus, following His words and example.  With His love in my heart, I am to be V2 …… “one accord, of one mind.”  V3, 4 “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.  Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.”  When this occurs in my (our) mind, we will be filled with the love of Christ, V5 “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.”  Therefore I would not be focused upon myself, and would only be able to, V14 “Do all things without complaining and disputing.”

I repent of sin and self-centredness, and today Jesus, I give You my life and ask You to take my heart and fill me with the Holy Spirit, and be my strength and wisdom, so that I am Your true follower.

Amen
