Mark 9: 35 “………”If anyone desires to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all.”

Dear God,

Another beautiful day, commenced in Your presence; this is the most precious time of the day to me. But then  it is also a precious experience that You come through the day with me when I ask You to do so, and hear and answer my prayer of all types, and fill me with Your Spirit, so that I am in fact able to commune with You, at all times.

So often as humans living in this present world, we want to be first, above all else, and I see these tendencies emerging in the children I often have in my house, and I know I have manifested such behaviours at times during my life.  Please humble our hearts, and give us a desire to help others, with a genuine love for them, that comes from You.

Today I have read Proverbs 31 regarding, don’t waste time or life force on self-indulgences or addictive substances, but instead be someone who; V8, 9 “Open Your mouth for the speechless, in the cause of all who are appointed to die.  Open Your mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.”   Please dear God, fill my mind with gratitude for Your blessings, instead of thoughts  just on me or maybe my perceived need for food indulgences or whatever to pick me up.  Please remind me also, to more often share with the poor and needy of all types, and in the ways You present before me.

Proverbs 31: 10 – 31 extols, the virtuous woman, “for her worth is above rubies.”  In the remaining verses is given the example, not only of a virtuous woman, but a very industrious woman, who would need much help to accomplish all that is described.  But the point is more about what a godly, wise, industrious woman can accomplish, which causes all the family to respond, V28 “Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.”  With the extra reward, V31 “Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates” the place where the male elders sat and discussed things, and made transactions.

Bless me also God, as I go about my humble tasks today.  It is my desire that, in your strength and wisdom, I will make a difference in these young lives that have been entrusted into my care for a small period of time.

Amen
