Luke 7:6, 7, 9 “…………..the centurion sent friends to Him, saying to Him, ‘Lord, do not trouble Yourself, for I am not worthy that You enter under my roof. Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to You. But say the word, and my servant will be healed.’” V 9 “When Jesus heard these things, He marvelled at him and turned around and said to the crowd that followed Him, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!’”
Dear God,
Thank You for my life and Your care of me and for the hope of salvation, through Your Son, Jesus. Also for the opportunity to freely seek, learn about and serve You. Jesus is truly my example, Please deepen my understanding of His words and actions. His miraculous doings are for we humans is amazing. Not however for Jesus to do by the power from on high.
Also I ask that I have my eyes opened, figuratively, to these lessons, as I read them. In addition I ask, that by Your grace and the infilling of the Holy Spirit, I will be able to develop and manifest a great faith in my Saviour, Christ the Lord.
In the reading of Luke 7: 4 – 9, is illustrated a truly humble Roman officer, who with absolute faith in Jesus made his request for the healing of his servant, and then his faith was rewarded by Jesus, because he had believed in Him, and the servant was healed before the centurion reached home.
The heart of Jesus was tender and loving (as mine is not, naturally) and when He saw a grieving person crying, despite the fact there was a large funeral procession, Luke 7: 14 “Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, ‘Young man, I say to you, arise.’” Death had no power, in His presence – and of course this is true, for Jesus was from heaven, the Creator of all the earth and all in it. For His time on earth, His divinity was clothed in human flesh. Death is from Satan, and Satan has no power over the divinity of You, God or Your
Son, Jesus. I wonder how many times Satan tried to get Jesus to use His divine power in a wrong way or place?
In history, Jesus was very soon to arise from the dead. Death was for ever overcome, by the death and resurrection of Jesus.
We will all die one day soon, if earth’s history lasts long enough, and O glorious thought, the dead in Christ will respond to the call of Jesus, and come back to life, at His call.
Hallelujah.
Amen
