Luke 1:45 “Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.”

Dear God,

Thank You for hearing my prayers and sustaining me so that I could accomplish all that was needed yesterday.  I thank You that in the old and new testaments, I find many illustrations of Your love for mankind, and that You love to answer the prayers, of those who love You.  These words encourage me to make You first and last in my life, and to set my needs before You; for You have oft told us we could do so, and that You would answer the prayer of faith, uttered by Your trusting child.  Please forgive me for the times when I have not trusted You, or prayed to You first, instead of after I have tried to answer my problem in my own strength; even though if I had stopped to think, You are God and know and can do all things, beside that fact that You love us absolutely, and delight to help each of Your children.  Though of course not all our requests are in You will and best for us, and so answers do not always come in the affirmative, but Your love and sense of peace and acceptance is never denied.  Thank You!

Luke 1 is a chapter that is rich in accounts of people of faith and the supernatural visits by Your angel messengers.  A son was promised to the aging Zechariah and Elizabeth, and because Zechariah did not at first believe, he was struck dumb until the child, John the Baptist was born.

Mary is promised a son, Jesus Christ, the son of God the Father, and she did believe the angel messenger, saying in verse 38 “…Behold the maidservant of the Lord!  Let it be to me according to your word…”

Mary being the cousin of Elizabeth, made her a visit, and v. 41. “And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.”

Today, I choose You God, to be my strength, stay and inspiration, and ask that I also will be filled with the Holy Spirit, so that I can be Your true child, and then recognize and accept Your words and follow You leading to do whatever You ask of me; putting aside my own selfish desires.

Amen
