Psalm 55:22 “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.”
Dear God,
The invitation to cast my burden upon You, has been one of my texts that I read on a daily basis for some time, when all seemed beyond my acceptance, this thought restored balance in my spirit. But even more so, when I read on, and allowed the following words to sink right into my mind; ’He shall sustain you’. When this was followed up with the promise that I would not be moved from Your righteous side. I was in a place to think and say words of praise.
Then I read more of Your scriptures, and learned the type of person I should be, as a true child of yours. You cannot direct and work in the heart and life of the prideful self-sufficient one, who sees no need of outside help. I accepted that I needed to allow the Holy Spirit to evaluate my attitudes and ask to be cleansed from the unlovely. 1 Peter 5:5 “……’God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble’” When I have given my heart to God, He hears my prayer to be the type of person He is, and gradually I will be changed into a person of loveliness in Christ. 1 Peter 5:6, 7 “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” You know what we can cope with and what we cannot, and we are provided with all we need to accept, stretch our faith, and conquer self. We need all our mind and senses to be even aware that the devil is on our case, ever working to bring us down and separate us from our only source of strength, You our God. Therefore we are counseled to be sober, and vigilant. We cannot play around with our old temptations or destructive habits for they will unseat us, so we must resist these temptations of the devil.
Like many who have gone before us in suffering and been delivered by God, so can we! 1 Peter 5: 10, 11 “But may the God or all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen and settle you.”
Glory be to You our God, provider, protector and Saviour.
Amen
