Jeremiah 1: 4, 5 “Then the word of the Lord came to me saying: ‘Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you to be a prophet to the nations.’”
Dear God,
I am humbled before You, as my loving God, the One of absolute and awesome abilities and power, all the while knowing of and caring about the largest planet to the smallest part of an atom in Your creation. It is staggering thing to know this as small people on a tiny speck in the universe, as the earth is! By inference I know I must be just we precious and cared about.
You appointed Jeremiah to the difficult and dangerous task of being Your mouth piece, to the rebellious, idolatrous, ungrateful and murderous people of Judah. Jeremiah was reminded when ordained to be Your prophet and spokesperson, that it was You who had formed and knew him in his mother’s womb and for the rest of his life. That means that each of us were known by You, before I (we) were formed in mother’s womb. Though very few of us would have been set aside as a prophet, we all have been blessed, and set aside to be Your special child. This is an awesome thought, because it means each of us are individually and uniquely gifted and special to You, with the potential to live in and for You each day we live; no matter the circumstances of our birth. I now more fully understand that it is Satan who bought all sin and degradation upon everything living upon the earth; and not You, for it clear You know and love me more intimately than I do myself.
Jeremiah, like many of us felt inadequate for God’s appointed task and said, V6 “….’Ah, Lord God! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.’” Knowing the man, this did not deter, V7, 8 “Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’ for you shall go to all whom I send you, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of their faces, for I am with You to deliver you,’ says the Lord.’” Jeremiah records, that You did more than that, to enable him in his commission, V9 “Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth, and the Lord said to me: ‘Behold, I have put my words in your mouth.’”
This gives me such assurance and hope, for we all can convey Your love and hope to others, in a small or large way. This account tells me, that I will not go alone when I go upon Your path and fulfil Your purpose for my life. Thank You that I am ‘precious in Your sight’ and for the daily provision both small and large.
Amen
